Last One Standing (Infrared)

Uploaded: July 19, 2009

Description

One of Fayette County, West Virginia’s last remaining Mail Pouch Barns. A quickly fading icon, these hand-painted barns once decorated the rural landscape of 22 states from 1890 to 1992 advertising Mail Pouch Chewing Tobacco, a product of the Bloch Brothers Tobacco Company based in Wheeling, WV. This image taken 4/05/09 with an Infrared converted Canon D60 and a 28-135 IS lens. Manual, 1/250, ISO 400, spot metered for the barn. The photo converted from red and white to B&W with Microsoft Digital Imaging Pro and noise removal done with Neat Image.

There are precious few of these left here in Ohio, too -- always love to find them. This one's a real beauty -- great job! #7756477

What a great find Amanda! This humble structure has become famous with your expert treatment. The definition of the IR converted to black and white is almost 3D. This is a great example of your fabulous work! Congrats on your well deserved EP's! #7766711
