I decided to toss this one into the contest just for grins. Protacio & Sharon threw out a challenge to me and this was the result :)

Pam, Great colors!!! I think these could be Terns, they look similar to a Kingfisher and certainly act the roll with diving into the water, but Terns are much more common around our lakes than Kingfishers! Kingfishers prefer to hide out along our creeks and rivers! It's not unheard of at all to see a kingfisher on a lake but less likely.
Anyway, great picture!!! Bryan... #1297102

Bryan, lol shhh I was told by a local that they were kingfishers ... I don't wanna rename the pics ;) I mean I've got one named "some are king fishers and some wannabe" ... now how would that translate?!!

But Terns at Water Colors would work out just fine, now, wouldn't it ...

I've found that depending on the locals for info re the wildlife around there can be veeerrry interesting ... especially hanging out with retired geezers that are looking for an op to play mind games with the city folk ;)

do you know that aligators sound just like bullfrogs and that shedded snake skins move in the night and that copperheads think that 200lb of dog on 16 legs is dinner?

have fun!

Bill,

YES, Thank you!! ... that is exactly precisely why this is one of my very favorites.

This is the one that really captures, for me, the peacefulness of living at lake's edge ... and why I think I am suppose to continue to live at some water edge.

Thanks!

have fun,
