Hi Maya! That is an awesome moon!! If you think it is missing something(you would know your always the best judge of your own pics) you could try moving it up to one of the upper corners or adding a tree branch or small thing in front of it. Hope I helped : ) Alycia #1272181

Image is out of focus.

Quantaray 70-300 is not a good lens so when going to 300 mm it will force you down to around f/6.3 or something like that.

It is better to work on A, instead of Tv, but manual is better.

If working on A, go to the maximum possible. You dont need a lot of depth of field with the moon, just focus to infinity. Adjust the exposure as needed. I don-t think 1600 is needed. Try around 400 and work from there.

Hi,
Nice shot of the moon, but it is out of focus. Just look at what Protacio S.
wrote you - I think his advice is good. #1272435

Thank you so much Protacio! as I said, I am still working on learning my camera and learning to take moon photos...So what lens would you suggest? I have gotten good photos with the Quantaray... Is it just not good for moon photos or not a good lens in general?

First use manual focus to infinity. Make sure you work with either the self timer or the remote control to avoid touching the camera.

The lens you have will force you to work with f/5.6 I guess. So try using your camera on Av, set to f/5.6 check the exposure. Since the Digital rebel doesn't have spot meter, it is possible that you might end up with over exposure because of the dark sky. So try compensating -2.0 EV and see if you like.

It is easier to work in Manual mode, set f/5.6, adjust the shutter speed to obtain and exposure around -2.0 EV or -1.5 EV.

Give it a try.
