Vicki Snow March 22, 2009

oh to be young again......i really like the bg....you can almost hear them chanting....the shadows are awesome #7314332

Dale Hardin March 22, 2009

Thank you Rhonda. And congratulations on the win for "Heiliger Sand" A beautifully crafted shot. Loved it. #7314783

Kathleen Nealon March 22, 2009

Dale,

I love your new self portrait. That must have taken a lot of practice to get the timing right between remote shutter release and the hand stand. No wonder your arms are so developed. LOL

Kathe #7314788

Dale Hardin March 22, 2009

Thank you Jeetendera. I enjoyed your gallery. Especially the fine portraits. #7314793

Dale Hardin March 22, 2009

Vicki, couldn't agree more about the "oh to be young again" statement. Oh, well, at least I'm still young at heart.

Thanks for the nice comment. I've been cruising your gallery and was especially drawn to the untitled shot of the dragonfly. Lovely image. #7314807

Dale Hardin March 22, 2009

Thank you Kathe for being the only one to realize the truth. #7314834

Esther R. Tinz March 22, 2009

Dale this shot needs flipped vertically.... Just kidding. You captured a 'second' in time. Well done #7315301

Christie R. Bielss March 22, 2009

Wow Dale - looks like you've got some pretty good moves! Now I know what the tripod is for!!! #7315535

Dale Hardin March 22, 2009

Ester and Christie, thanks for the kudos. I'm still laughing from your funny critiques. :-) #7316280

Jeanine M. Bailey March 22, 2009

Awesome Dale!!! :) #7316287

Debbra Bailey March 22, 2009

Awesome shot Dale! I love the guy in the background to the left cheering him on! #7316366

Dale Hardin March 22, 2009

Thanks Jeannine.

Debbra the guy in the background is part of the group of buskers that were performing acrobatic moves that day. I have some other shots of him as well. #7316654

Robert K. Bemus level-classic March 22, 2009

Great action and comp, Dale!! #7316662

Dale Hardin March 22, 2009

Thank you Robert. I should have realized that "Illusion of Speed" was from the same talent that took "Duck Dive" Didn't recognize the name when I commented on it. #7316696

Anthony L. Mancuso March 23, 2009

Nice shot Dale...you guys have quite the characters out west.. #7317709

Aimee C. Eisaman March 23, 2009

Really cool capture Dale! Love the background...really makes the shot with that guy and the camera, and especially that guy to the left and his expression....fantastic! I think you made a wise choice setting the straightness with that tree instead of that street light...sometimes that is a difficult dicission, but going with something closest to the center of the shot is the way to go! :~) That being said I must say that the foreground shoe having a blur on the sole seems odd because it doesn't look like a motion blur, but rather a gaussian blur from editing! #7318745

Dale Hardin March 23, 2009

Thanks Tony. You're right, we sure do and you can find most of them at Venice Beach all summer.

Aimee, you sharp eyed vixen you. You always keep me on the straight and narrow and catch me when I get lazy. Yep, it's a Gaussian blur all right. Shame on me for letting that get by me.
Don't let up Aimee, I love the challenge of trying to get it just right. #7318788

Penny Haviland March 23, 2009

Great capture on this colorful and active street scene! Love your gallery! ;p #7318838

Jodi M. Walsh March 23, 2009

very cool shot and I won't be letting Sadie see this (don't want to get her any more ideas for acrobatics) :-) #7319012

Joan E. Hoffman March 23, 2009

Really fun and interesting capture Dale! Love it!! #7319118

Dale Hardin March 23, 2009

Penny, thank you so much. And thank you for introducing me to your gallery. I had such a good time. Let you some notes. #7320839

Dale Hardin March 23, 2009

Thank you Jodi and Joan.

Jodi, I have another shot of this fellow that takes even more strength to pull off. What the heck! I'll post it for you. #7320847

Jodi M. Walsh March 23, 2009

hey- no encouraging my little daredevil ;-)

these are amazing captures Dale. very cool and very California :-) #7320884

Debbie E. Payne March 23, 2009

Very nice action shots, Dale. I wouldn't even dream to advise you to straighten him up a bit; He's defying gravity and you were right there to freeze him in action. Great job and I SO agree with Jodi - very cool and very California! #7320935

Dale Hardin March 23, 2009

Jodi and Debbie, thanks. Only on Venice Beach!! Need to go back there soon as it's a photogs paradise. #7321146

Anthony L. Mancuso March 24, 2009

Hey Dale... I like the second one better!...i'm not sure why, he just seems more dynamic, and his body position seems better compostionally...i KNOW you checked this but the image does feel to me like it is slanting from left down to right slightly..could be the slant of the pole or height of the people in the crowd..but either way I like this one better. :-) #7322365

Dale Hardin March 24, 2009

You're quite right on the slant Tony. I used the tree as the vertical reference because it was the most predominant but in actuality I should have either cloned out the pole or leveled the shot and cloned out the tree (or both)

You can verify the pole should have been the correct refereence by comparing the tiny bit of sidewalk showing just to the right of his arm band.

By the way I think it's very funny and fitting that I'm getting dinged for not being "on the level" since I've been harping about it so long. LOL. It's a gas but proves that everyone now is aware and that is very cool. #7323126

Ellen H. Robertson level-classic March 26, 2009

Very cool subject. Great shot. How do they do that. I have a hard time just keeping my feet going in the direction I am going. #7335873

Angela C. French March 26, 2009

Wow! Hard to catch good shots of street preformers! #7337405

Dale Hardin March 27, 2009

Thanks. Not sure of their methods, Ellen. I haven't been able to do it for years now, and don't remember if I did it with two hands or just one. Darn senior moments! LOL :-)

Thank you Angela. Must admit I caught these shots because I was too lazy to stand and got down on the sidewalk to rest. :o) #7340070

Christie R. Bielss March 27, 2009
