Sunset, Mojave National Preserve

Uploaded: March 18, 2009

Description

If there's one advantage ot Southern California's dust and smog, it's the nice, orange sunsets and sunrises that are common in Southern California's deserts. To be fair though I should clarify that air quality has improved somewhat since the 1970s, and today up to 30% of California's air pollution comes from Asia's "brown cloud", such as the oppressive air pollution that hampered the 2008 Summer Olympics. Their black soot even contributes greatly to global warming. Their regional problem is now a threat to global health (and healthcare cost) and to global economic prosperity.

An awesome image, Jeff, and good information. I remember many of these scenes when I lived in Yucca Valley #7300446
