Very cute and very good photo, Damian! That's some pretty tough light for a portrait! #21120

Nice tight composition! #48709

Thanks Gary & Curtis!

I'm reading Bryan F. Peterson's book about Understanding Exposure and thought I'd try a shot with some difficult side lighting to see if it would add a little more feel of depth to the shot!

That is an EXCELLENT book.
That's how I finally learned to understand exposure a very long time ago and I still think that it's the best book out there but his classes are even better!
And.... This shot is tres bien! #48737

I've checked my French dictionary and the literal translation seems to be
"CUTE KID". I bought Bryan's CD a few years back and it is good also. #48755

LOL - thanks Murry! #48758

Yikes - I know that feeling Jeannie! Thanks for the comment - my niece isn't camera shy, that's for sure! #48793

Good for you, practicing with different lighting. I love to do that! She is a cutie! Even with that strong light, you did well not to overexpose. #48851

Thanks so much Shelley! #48859

Damian, Take the class first! Then you'll enjoy the upgrade and won't wear it out with too much practice. Once you take the course you'll be very confident and satisified with the first or second image instead th 6th or 7th! I took Brians creative photography course in October and sure am glad that I waited to buy the D60. Now I am taking my second course with Jim Z and it's a blast.
Damian, The classes are great! I think that it's the best thing that I did for myself in a long time. They are very inspiring and eye opening. I was amazed at how much I didn't know and thought that I did. I love the courses! I'd take every single one of them if I could and just may do that. They are awsome! I don't know how you can put it off!

If the classes are half as good as his books, they will be more then fantastic.

Thanks for the info Donna!

I'll work it into my plans.... Right now, I'm saving up to pay the balance of my income taxes...

California is a mess right now, might be for a long time with what Governor Davis has done... So, I'm going to have to plan carefully!

In the mean time.... I'll take lots of pix (when I can) and have some fun with it! #48918
