I'm new to betterphoto and am becoming a more "serious" amateur (and it's so FUN!). I'd love some feedback on this shot--it's my first one here. THANKS! #221655

Perfect focus, and a nice moment you have captured.

Image description says that flash was used, but the light in her eyes does not shows the typical catchlights of the strobe. That turned out to be better since ambient light I my favorite for this kind of pictures.

On the other hand, colour is not right. Flesh tones are not natural but I just tried Autolevels in PS and it works great with your image.

Give it a try.

Thanks, Protacio. I've been playing a little with the color tones, but more than that, my screen seems to show different colors in PS than when I load the pictures. It's weird. I'm guessing I need to calibrate my monitor, except I don't know why everything isn't off--just stuff in PS looks way more intense. Any thoughts about that?

Thanks again for your comments. #1150502

I have seen your picture in three different monitors and all of them show an strange skin tone.

It does happens quite often that you have an image on PS and when uploaded it looks a bit muted.

I'm guessing here but I think the utility provided by Betterphoto does something similar to the Save for Web option in PS using a reduced pallete to make the image lighter for download.

If it looks good in your screen and the output to a printer is OK for you, then don't move a thing, but make sure the output colors are right. When I did Autolevels in your image the colors were corrected, so try it both ways and see which one you like.

Lisa, you have a wonderful camera and the composition on this is wonderful.

Generally it's the color space that may cause this problem. For example RGB and sRGB produce noticably different colors...

I take my photo's in sRGB RAW, and open them and work on them in sRGB tiffs since I rarely print my photographs. It's a little tricky setting PS-CS to sRGB though. Anyway...you need to save your file as a sRGB for the web (under save for Web). sRGB is the Internet standard. The file upload should look exactly like the preview from "Save for Web". However if I edit in RGB, that file will have different colors.

On my monitor, the face is a little dark and/or has a yellow cast to it. Just lightening it may be enough. It's a great photo. #1151727

Kristi,
Thanks so much. I'll give that a try. I appreciate the feedback and encouragement. I'll keep working on it. #1153350
