Luminescent

Photo captured while shooting at a small St.Judes chapel near Montauk State Park in Missouri. I'm happy I've gotten in the habbit of looking behind me from time to time, or I would have missed this shot. The warm light hitting the building was nice, but the light behind me was even better.Photo taken near sunset.

Great capture of this gorgeous evening light! I have noticed that we have the same obsession ... or, should I call it fascination? Either way: the Light!! The day you take up the camera, you begin to learn just how magic - and elusive - it really is. Van Gogh once said his entire life was a quest for the Perfect Light, and I would say the same about photography! You do really well at seeing it (I have found a lot of people don't) - and more importantly, getting it - I was going to say On Film, but you know what I mean! Very radiant and beautiful! #6871764Tommy E. Burgess December 10, 2008 0
Thank you very much Joan and Nadya ,I appreciate your kind words very much. It's really been only recently that I've figured out how to catch the light. Before I would see beautiful lighting situations and aim the camera in auto mode at the subject, which often resulted in overexposure. Now I've gotten in the habbit of finding a midtone before locking the exposure. When I used to paint I had the luxuary of not having to think about any technical aspects, and was even guilty of embellishing the light. Thanks for the kind comments Nadya, I am really insprired by you and many of my other peers on here. While composition is one of my favorite aspects of photography, it was from viewing captures on here that gave me the courage to learn how to meter light, which has really changed my photography for the better. Have a wonderful night and thanks again everyone. I always feel I never find the right words, but am always sincere about my thanks forthe kind words of encouragement, the suggestions to make my shots better, and the inspiration from viewing others work. Happy shooting. :) Tommy #6873160
