Makes for a very striking image, Victor! Did you try one with only the shadow? #20755

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!

Yes, Gary, I’ve tried to play with the compositional balance of the photo. The submitted photo looks better than all other versions that I’ve tried. In fact, the original photo includes the entire dish, and it was very interesting to experiment with the image. Intuitively, I ended up with the photograph above, and only later I came to some interesting observations. First of all, if you mentally picture the part of the real image in the upper right “glued” to its shadow in the lower left, then you will get an almost perfect original dish. To me, such cropping works the best; the shadow without the real object is dull, and the photo is uninteresting. Straight lines in the photo help to draw attention to and to follow the classic, natural curves that are separated by the textured space between the real and virtual. Needless to say, that the gap between the rod and the counterbalanced element of the shadow is a must in such a composition. Of course, the only bold red color plays a very important, almost equal role in this simple composition. The above is just my opinion; you may see it differently. Thanks a lot again.

Sincerely, Victor.
