In this shot, I actually backed the telephoto off a bit to include some of an adjacent building. This placed the cactus to the left third of the image. Unfortunately, a lady in a bright pink top peeked her head into my picture at the time I took it. The vertical orientation helped block out unwanted elements.... almost.
