OH my...I don't know whether to smile or cry. I just visited our zoo last week, and I'm always torn about how to feel when I'm there. While I'm very grateful for the chance to see the animals close up, and I know they are very well cared for, one can't help but wonder how they feel. In any case, this is one phenomenal image, Lisa. #6444996

I really appreciate that you each paused to peek and to comment so kindly.
Although, at the moment captured, this little fella looked helpless and sad (a wonderful little model!), the following moments were spent swinging through the trees with other monkeys in his brand-new, large, airy habitat.
Thanks for your wonderful comments. They mean so much!
Smiles, Lisa♥

Mike F. Anderson November 22, 2008

A lot of times we hate those chain link fences being in the way when we want to get a clear picture, but I think including it like you did here really enhances the theme and message of the image. I, as much as anyone, love to be able to go to the zoo and enjoy these animals and photograph them, but another part of me always feels for them, knowing that they would like to be free of their restrictive boundaries. Your image captures this so well in the expression of his eyes as he holds onto the fence, looking out and perhaps wondering or longing for experiences unfulfilled. Very nice image Lisa! #6789239

Cheryl E. Molennor February 11, 2009

I feel his need to be free. He has a tear in his eye and you captured the perfect expression. #7153619
