Unorthodox

Uploaded: September 10, 2008

Description

As you can probably tell from the onion domes, this is an Orthodox church but the reason I’ve called it UNorthodox is because of it’s location. It’s right in the middle of cornfields and the architecture is quite unusual to see rising from the corn.

One of the things I like very much about this church is the way the architect chose to design a building based on a European tradition and use local materials which gives it the appearance of being part of the land when standing in front of it. The church is quite new and the cedar shakes are weathering beautifully.
