Wow, out of all the jillions of flower photos I have seen, this one popped out at me. So, now I have to ask, how did you do the effect? It's gorgeous. #6492994

Hi Nanette,
This picture was taken near dusk outside on our property in Texas. f6.3 ISO 400 Cannon EFS 17-85 lens with image stabilzer. (I think the lens made a difference in getting a clear image outdoors) Used macro setting at a lens focal length of 85. Editing in Photshop included: 1.clone stamp tool to remove small specks of pollen from the fower's petals. 2.quick selection tool to isolate the background and adjust the brightness/contrast-making it slightly darker. 3.shadow/highlight tool used on the entire picture. 4.quick selection tool to take a donut shape ring inside the flower and add brightness with the brightness/contrast tool. I think I may have saturated the color a little, but not much. I like to think of it as my "perfect flower" in that it didn't have any bug holes, black spots, or other major blemishes other that the pollen creating shadows on the petals, and it was quite ballanced. #6506035
