Description

This is a pic of a portion of an installation of images depicting war brides on their wedding day. The installation is call "War Brides: One-Way Passage" and was housed at the Royal BC Museum in Victoria.

The installation was lit by a series of incandescent lights, so I corrected the color to remove the yellow cast, lifted some shadows and adjusted the image curve.

This is quite a display! Great shot of this, Christina! As I mentioned in my post, today would have been my parents' 70th anniversary. So I guess my mother was a "war bride" in a way -- On Sept. 1, 1939 Hitler invaded Poland; that's how they talked about their wedding day, forever afterwards. In a sense, and until Pearl Harbor, it was their 9-11. Old photos seem so bittersweet! I really like this shot. #6393610
