Same Warm Sumer Day On Bayou Desiard

Uploaded: August 02, 2008

Description

This Bayou Is Near Where I Live. For those of you (One Told Me) who believe it is safe to swim anywhere in Louisiana I want you to know a young boy lost his arm day before yesterday swiming in Louisiana. Law Enforcement killed the 11 foot gator and got the boys arm out of the gators stomach. Last I heard doctors were attempting to re-attach the arm. Bill

OK, so no swimming in the bayou...how close to the edge of the water do you get to shoot these lovely photos? Talk about high risk photography!

Your capture of the area is gorgeous!
Stunning light, colour and refections. :) #6261211

Bill Knaps August 02, 2008

Thank you Jen for your nice comment. Appreciate you and your support very much. Someone asked how close to the water I get. Right at the waters edge sometimes. That is why I must stay alert. I don't want to get snatched off the bank by a large gator. Some people don't realize a gator does not have to be as large as you might think for him to eat you. Bill #6261291

Melissa Olsen August 02, 2008

Just beautiful Bill....I love the red contrasting with the green and the stillness of it all. #6261336

Thank you Melissa, Vladan, Jessica, Angela, Judy, Janet and Deb. I appreciate you and your support very much. Thanks for you nice comments. Kathleen KK wrote me she did not think they were able to save the boys arm. She will let me know if she hears more. If it had happened in California or Florida it would be all over the news. We have things happen every day that is as big or bigger news than Calif. or Fla. have. We had a fire destroy a lot of Timber not far from me, but you won't hear about our fire. LOL Bill #6262448

The reflection on the water is so clear and colors are so delightful. It's hard to imagine that despite the impressive beauty there's something so dangerous that lurks beneath. It's still so beautiful just the same Bill. Thanks for sharing Bill and we could admire all these in absolute safety. #6267031

Another very beautiful image, Bill! So sad about the boy, there are so many dangers young people have to face in this world today, but who would think a gator would be this child`s biggest worry. Wish him the best and a quick recovery.....Denny #6267032

Oh my!! Hope the little boy is doing well now.. We recently spotted a Python in our little pond here in KY, and have a missing cat.. My children fish in this pond!! SCARY!! We think he could be 14-16 foot.. Fish/Game are coming today to try to find it.. #6278197

Bill Knaps August 06, 2008

Thank you for your nice comment Datha. I appreciate you very much. Well, Had it been a gator in your pond that would be where your cat went and the same with that python. Must be someones pet that got away. Friend of mines got away and it was found under a neighbors house many months later. Bill #6278219
