Description

This is a waterfall picture I took in Kamloops, BC. Kamloops is somewhat desert like, with tumbleweed, rattlesnakes, hot temps, etc. It was +35 this day, and I was travelling a backroad when I stopped at a pullout. I walked around a bit, and noticed a trail that led up to a tangle of underbrush. I ducked under and found this. I thought it was beautiful, and a real treat on a hot day!

Hi Cathy! Beautiful shot! I hope you took advantage of the falls if you were hot! I know I would have! Happy Holidays! #34190

Thank you Jeannie, Birdie and Lorraine!

A Merry Christmas to each and every one of you, and may you prosper in the New Year!

Lorraine: I did, indeed, take advantage of the falls - it was almost hot enough to fry an egg on the pavement (er... hard packed dirt road?), with clear blue skies overhead - a beautiful trip!

Merry Christmas, Cathy! I submitted another Christmas card photo in the regular (non-contest) area and answered your question about how I shot todays contest submission, "The True Meaning of Christmas". It seems the first photo is locked up and reading the comments attached to it is not possible at this time.

By the way, your photo is so realistic that it makes me cold. It is 25 degrees here today, and I mean fahrenheit! Snow on the way for Christmas, so I guess I can't complain. Have a safe and happy holiday season! #34252

I like the water streaking down, Cathy! I can certainly feel myself in this cool water on a hot day! Good luck with this shot!! #34269

Thank you Damian, Lem and Dolores, for your wonderful comments!

Lem: The regular, non-contest area - is that the Q&A section? I can't find your photo with the answer to my question. Thanks!

I was afraid of that, Cathy. Sometimes navigation outside of the contest area at BP can be difficult.
Anyway, the answer is that the photo, "The True Meaning of Christmas" was a shot of a large concrete slab, covered in snow. The picture was taken at night using spotlight illumination and a custom white balance to give the overall yellow effect. #34443
