A visit to the now know as "wet darkroom" #190927

Interesting composition and tonal qualities but the person is a little far away and not easy to read as a person at first . Perhaps if they were in the foreground, instead of way out there, it would be a stronger image.

Nice to see you used black and white. Please do more.

Very interesting image and design. Not sure what is the center of focus. If it is the figure, I agree with Bob.
The contrast and tension between textures works well together. #934104

I like the look and feel, Protacio! I'm a sucker for B&W. I didn't notice the person at first, though.....

Thank you fellows.

I was driving by when I saw the bridge. Light was harsh since it was around noon when I got there, but I don’t visit that place often so I walked to see if I could get something interesting.

The person was totally unexpected, so I started to work around that solitary swimmer who happened to be seated there for about 30 minutes, the time I had the chance to explore different compositions.

He was in the shadow all the time, so it was hard to get details from him, but the film did a good work capturing what I needed to make this print while dodging for a few seconds to get some details from the swimmer.

I only have one lens for my Pentax (75 mm), and shooting to get him larger in the frame gave me an uninteresting composition compared with this one. Subject is small…it is true. That is also one of the thing I don’t like from this print. I tried cropping to make his body larger but the image lost what I liked the most: the lines and the reflections in the water.

I have a different shot taken with Nikon’s D100, where his body is larger. That one is called “The swimmer”. I’ll post that one in the morning.

Thanks for your help on this one.

I also agree with Bob, however, I really like this shot - the composition and detail on the bridge is very sharp and the reflection in the water so clear - B&W is perfect for this shot as it brings out the opposed lines.
Take good care Protacio! #934744

Thanks you Lucia for visiting my image.

As usual I take different approaches from a subject when it gives the time to explore, as in this case.

I just uploaded a digital image I took with my Nikon.

I'm sorry Protacio, but I too missed the person. I like the lines, shadows, and the textures. #936741

Thank you Leanne for your comment.

Yes, subject is small in this print. I tried to give more room to the surroundings and let the subject as an unexpected element in the image.

Maybe I was trying subconsciously to enhance his solitude, I don’t know. This feedback is what I need in order to know if the image has any value at all.
