Description

Duplicated original layer. Created new mask layer between duplicates with rectangle and drop shadow. Clip top layer to mask layer. Desaturated bottom layer. Enhanced levels, saturation, and sharpness on top layer with lighting effects.

Photoshop Elements 5.0 I found the technique on photoshopelementsusers.com as well as a class through Kelby Training. It's not difficult, but not a technique I would have discovered on my own. Quite fun! #5973205

Lovely image Sheila! One minor suggestion... if you add the edges of the butterfly wings (with feather of probably ~2) (magic wand or magnetic lasso might work well here) to the rectangular selection before creating the new mask & drop shadow, it would 'pop' more. #5974588
