First of all, your gallery is terrific I would love to see a show of your work in person! Beautiful perspective you have on the world!
This image is very interesting and I am curious of the layering techniques that you are using to add the subtleties. I am brand new to PS so please talk in dummy language if you could! #916906

Molly, thanks for the kind comments. Here are the steps I used for this image. There may be more efficient ways to do this, but here is what I did.

1. I started with some scanned flowers.
2. I have a scanned old postcard that I layered above the flowers. With blend mode set to multiply on that layer.
3. I did a curves adjustment layer about that.
4. I used Nik photo efex INK on a layer.
5. I did a levels adjustment layer to get the tone right.
6. I added ANOTHER copy of the postcard. Again set to multiply just to make the image a little darker.
7. I used an ACTION I have to darken the entire image and almost make it gray scale.
8. I did a hue/saturation adjustment layer set to colorize.
9. I added an image of some peeling wall, that is the sort of aqua color and the upper levels of texture.
10. I did a Levels adjustment layer just get the darkness/lightness right.
11. I added a border.
12. Added a signature layer using a custom brush.

Hope this sort of makes sense. Working with layers is key.
