Morikami (transferred & handcolored)

Uploaded: April 28, 2008

Description

For this image I painted blue watercolor on a piece of Strathmore Aquarius II 80 lb. Cold Press paper. I then printed my b&w image on Sheer Heaven then did an alcohol transfer onto the painted paper after it had dried. I then used Conte Pastel pencils and colored in the rocks, bushes, leaves and trees. The blue sky and water are just the effect of the watercolor paint. You can see a little lift-off from the transfer in the middle foreground. I actually think that adds to the look, but that may be just me. The scan for posting is a bit more vivid in color than the actual product.

Oh my gosh, Rene. This is so far beyond my knowlege and skills. You have created a wondrous mixed media piece of art. I truly hope you offer these masterpieces for sale somewhere so others can enjoy them. #911073

Good for you, Rene!! You have ventured out where some of us have only dreamed of going :) I have a book on how to do all of this stuff, but haven't ventured into it yet. Whoo!! You did a really lovely job! #5859637

Aggie and Deborah, thanks so much for your comments. I have been taking a class in Painting Photographs at http://www.ppsop.net

It has really been fun. And, yes, I did pull out some techniques from a book I have and also from a transfer listserv that I belong to. It was fun putting lots of different techniques together.--Rene #5859656

Wow, this is really beautiful. I've been reading about these types of effects but have never tried. You've created a really wonderful image here. #5862114
