Description

Infrared capture of the Pond located on the immaculately landscaped grounds of the Cedar Hill Historical Cemetery in Hartford, CT. I was told IR photography could not be done with a Digital Rebel. Well, this time, the camera shop pros are going to learn something new from an amateur.

I'm glad I clicked on your picture when it caught my eye! Your work, well done! Guess you shouldn't call yourself an amateur now :-)! #184125

Thank you Jane. This was my first serious photo trek to experiment with IR and I am pleased with the results so far. I have to find out how much more focus I can get out of this format. I did manually focus first then install the filter and took several timed shots in increments. #881716

Good job Wayne! Good composition and contrast. I really like this! I'm a big fan of IR! I don't have the Hoya filter, but I want one especially now! Good use of PS as well! #881729

Thank you Matt and Kathryn. I have been admiring the IR works of others ahead of me and that perked my interest. It took a bit of research, which led to the fact that my camera had the capability and helped me to select a filter. I also had a good instructor who really got me excited about photography in a very short amount of time. I am hooked and have been shooting for 13 months now. I will be posting another IR shot in my gallery that I took this afternoon along with this one. #881757

Wayne,

IR, how do you do this.
This is very interesting.
You have a great image.
Is it the filter or the way the camera is set up. I guess I need to re-read the manual or get some good coaching from you on how to do this.

Good job

I love this Wayne... I have the DReb 350 XT and I'm curious to know how you did this too,.. is it a lens filter or camera settings..? #1663565

Hello Wayne. Just cruising through Better Photo and looking at Deluxe Websites. Somehow I found your photos and when I saw this one, I had to write. It's stunning, evocative. Your photos show a great eye for composition, mood and theme. The technique is terrific. Standouts like this one prove you're no longer an amateur. #2134766

Thank you Colleen. That was actually the very first IR shot I took over a year ago and since then I have refined my technique from experience and "talking" to other IR photographers with stunning IR shots. The hardest part of the process is taking a picture with as little noise as possible since I shoot digital and I have not discovered any tried and true recipe for shooting IR. My Newer canon 20D helps a lot noisereduction and deetail since I can also shoot in B&W mode. Thank you for your enthusiasm about my work. Tt is a very addicting and at the same time therapeutic hobby. #2136129
