Report: The FAA is studying the feasibility of modeling future air travel on bird behavior utilizing new flexible aircraft structure designs and airports without runways.
Well, O.K. you may not see that headline in your morning paper anytime soon, but it's hard to argue that mother nature has a far more efficient system for getting her "aircraft" into flight rapidly. I captured these Black Skimmers in this mass departure on Miami's South Beach early one Sunday morning. Unlike the gulls and terns, the skimmers have a much larger "comfort" zone. Here they were startled by a hotel employee moving some lounges out for the day's visitors.

Michael - Really neat find and capture! I love in-flight shots and this one surely has that covered! - Mike #5572829Michael S. Lazarus March 01, 2008 0
Hey Mike, Thanks a million! I love in-flight shots as well as they are so filled with drama. It's definitely a challenge to keep it on the straight and level and get the proper DOF, focus and composition. #5576800Jean-Pierre Ducondi March 01, 2008 0
