response to Kathleen. In Minnesota, At the bottom of lake Pepin, which is on the Mississippi River, Several Hundred Bald Eagles winter there. I counted over 200 last winter and I will be heading back again this year. If you ever get the chance to be near Redwing MN between NOV and MAR I would recommend stopping to take photos. #932929

James, Kathleen and Michelle - I travel for work and I ran into these on a river in rural Iowa on my way back to Kansas. Luckily, I had my camera with me. It was a lot of fun to spend the afternoon shooting pics of them. :)
Donald - The settings were f8, 1/1600. Hope this helps.
