Third Lid

Description

What some people may not know is that cats have a third lid which comes from the corner of their eye. What looks like a tear duct is really the third eye lid. It can bearly be seen here which is a sign of good health.

A beautiful cat, Domenick. The detail in the eyes is incredible.

(When I worked in an animal shelter years ago, we automatically euthanized any cat whose 3rd eyelid was too visible. We just didn't have the space, or isolation area, for sick animals. It was often a sad place to be. I think they have a more extensive foster care program there now so it's not as bad as it used to be.) #860397
