If you've watched insects carefully you've seen that some keep flying off and returning to the same location - butterflies and dragonflies fit this mold. Find such a spot - like this lotus bud - set up your tripod and focus on it. No more problems trying to focus on a rapidly moving target. Wait for your subject to return and shoot.
