Rodin's Kiss Trapped in Concrete
Uploaded: October 03, 2004
F3.2, 1/100, full zoom, B&W special setting (not converted); NeatImage to reduce noise at 200 ISO. The Parc Henri Barbusse is within a mile of Auguste Rodin's workshop; this is no coincidence. I think he would not have been thrilled to have this copy stuck under a large concrete stairway...

What a strange place to stash away beauty and art(even a reproduction)! Your composition of this is exceptionally artful in its own way, Christian. #175087Christian Harberts October 04, 2004
Really appreciate the comment Mary! Its a beautiful park, marred by this huge Stalinesque double entrance walkway that descends from a street above. This same statue has already caught my attention in years past - see photo http://www.betterphoto.com/gallery/dynoGallDetail.php?photoID=505407&catID=3889&style=&contestCatID=&rowNumber=91&camID=946 . Interesting detail - it looks like the statue has been cleaned recently, compared to the older shot.Christian #820738

Christian, you have the talent and a golden opportunity, living where you do, to display in this century the works of French geniuses such as Rodin, using the photographic style (b & w) of their era.How I envy you! Make the most of it, Lucky Man, and keep sharing it with the community of betterphoto! Mary #821503

Again thanks Mary! If we look elsewhere in this park, we find several other statues - more interpretations should be coming soon... And I've already threatened to buy a Gallery if I win anything in the September contest ;-)Christian #823129
