Trekkin' in the Midnight Sun [Animals]
Uploaded: January 07, 2008 10:30:12
This is a composite of six photos. Five are different images of a single polar bear from the Buffalo Zoo; one is an image I captured last winter of a frozen lagoon near my home.
Ya know, I LOVE polar bears, but seeing them enclosed at the zoo always leaves me a little sad.
I imagine that this scene is what a zoo's polar bear sees when he dreams.
Someday, I'd love to travel and see these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat,
but for today, there's Photoshop AND my imagination!
Thanks for looking.

Very nice composite; however, it creates an issue for the new contest. How do theyLisa J. Boulden January 07, 2008
Ya know, Garth, I thought of that, too. (I've always felt this sense that heavily-digitally-altered images were somehow "cheating" or simply a different art form and should be categorized separately.) This is why I've made it a point of being forthright in my descriptions regarding any editing I've done.Donna La Mattino Pagakis January 07, 2008

What a wonderful comment, Deb!Dale Hardin February 02, 2008
Lisa, this is wonderful. I love the hidden story here of perhaps a family working together to find a new home or a more available food supply. But for your incite, their quest would never be seen. Few of us have the opportunity to see images like this and it is the artists of the world that create them for us. Well done. Dale #5432847Deb Koskovich February 02, 2008

Nice composite Lisa. The Tundra Buggy Tours (see back advertising section any photo mag) are the best way to see the Polar Bears, up close, personal and in the wild. Do not wait to long. I will assure you it is worth every penny and you will never regret doing it as a once in a life time experience. We were only sorry we waited as long as we did. Made our trip in November 2006. #5688381Laurence Saliba March 24, 2008
