Christmas

Uploaded: December 16, 2007

Description

ISO 400
f/8
Shutter .8 sec
50 mm lens with 6 point star burst filter.

To get this photo I used a tripod and shot in manual mode. I metered for the ambiant light only in the background (the lights on the tree). I used 1 strobe with umbrella (camera left) for fill light on my subject. Prefocused and turned all the lights off in front of my subject so that she would go black during the long exposure thus eliminating motion blur.

I was so excited to learn this technique which enables me to capture the Christmas lights in portraits!!!

Post processing included: Teaking levels, whitening eyes/teeth, smoothing skin, and applying a gaussien blur at low opacity on a seperate layer and erasing out the eyes, eyebrows and mouth. Oh, yes, and cropping! I think that was it.

Exif: F Number: 8, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 8/10 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 400, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 50.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 5D
