Beautiful Thierry. The soft background is perfect for these delicate blossoms. #19715

Dear Carol,

This cherry blossoms picture is one omy favorite because as you said of the soft background.

Let me tell my experience about that picture.

Cherry flowers are small flowers and are by thousands in trees. For these reasons, it is difficul to take good pictures of cherry blossoms.

I took this picture with a 300 mm zoom lense. With such a zoom, the background disappear and becomes beautiful, isn't it? ... and the flowers are not drowned anymore in the other flowers bebind.

After my first spring in Tokyo, I didn't really understand why Japanese people were so much in love with cherry blossoms... almost like in adoration to God.

The second year, I didn't go to the big parks but instead went to a small park near my house. I sat there and relaxed under the cherry trees all afternoon. That night... when I went to bed... after closing my eyes... here they were! My mind was full of flowers... incroyable! I could almost touch and smell them... such an unique moment! I felt close to nature as never and finally understood why Japanese people love their cherry blossoms.

Thank you again for your appreciation #19748

Dear Cathy,

Thank you for your comment.

I do like cherry blossoms'softness but it's difficult to take them unless using a zoom.

Zooms absorbe the light so may be I should exposed it a little bit more to get more details. Anyway, I was using an automatic Canon and I didn't think at that time.

I am not sure what is a good picture. May be the picture is also OK like that... it's like impressionism which put more emphasis on feelings than details. #19749

Thierry,
Thanks for sharing your experience with the cherry blossoms. We get some beautiful blossoms here in the spring too. I live along what is called the blossom trail. There are many orchards in our area with many different colors of blossoms. This year there were more than I had ever seen before--the trees were loaded with them. It was very beautiful.
You did a great job taking this picture. It is so pleasant to look at.
Where did you live before you moved to Tokyo?

I agree with Carol. It is beautiful just the way you've shot it. I would say this is a great picture! I visited friends in the Kootenays of British Columbia and got to see orchard blossoms for the first time. They were so beautiful with many different colors. I would have liked to spend some time just sitting under those trees absorbing their beauty, but alas, I had to move on to where my friends lived, which was also very pretty, but nothing like those blossoms!

Dear Cathy,

Yes,sitting under cherries trees is a great thing to do.

Just take the time to be there, have a picnic, read a favorite book or have a good conversation with someone close to you. You won't regret it.
