Country Church

Uploaded: October 26, 2002

Description

Taken on a bright overcast day. I liked how the dark door contrasted with the white building. I metered on the door to overexpose the white walls. I decided to crop in tight on the front of the church to eliminate the white sky.

This is very nice Pat! I like how you've cropped in tight. Too much white sky would have washed out the shot. I like how you've composed it, and the doors really do become a central focus. I also like the teal colors of the shingles and the craftsmanship of the building itself.

Thank you, Cathy. I appreciate your comments. I liked the color of the doors and tried to capture it the way I saw it. After I saw the photo, I couldn't figure out what seemed different about the building than I remembered. As I was shooting, I didn't notice that the roof line was higher on the right sided than on the left. This church used to be in a rural area, but houses have been built around in the area recently. The church still retains it's country flavor. #19400
