Description

All comments and critiques welcome. Please tell me what you think and what you think could improve the picture. The colors don't do justice to the original and I hate that about compression. If anyone knows how to maintain the colors when compressed please let me know. I'd appreciate it!

This is beautiful Moe!
I know what you mean about keeping
the colors true, I'm still learning myself. I think this is wonderful! #742825

Moe,
A beautiful photo. You've got a great camera that supports RAW format If you're shooting jpegs try using that and playing with exposure compensation. If you haven't tried Photoshop CS, they have a free demo and it will support all formats plus will give you an incredible set of tools that will blow your mind. #743093

Thank you all for you support and comments. David, I do shoot in raw, which is why I hate converting down to jpg to post online because I lose so much of the information and color that was present. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. At any rate, I'm happy with the original and the one that's posted. Thanks again everyone!! #743211

Really jaw dropping colours here Moe, your composition is right on the money too. I really like the mist in the middle distance....BEAUTIFUL! #743316

Moe, once again what an absolutely beautiful photo!!! Have you tried summiting in Tiff? No compression and Better Photo does support the format. #743650

Beautiful image, Moe!! #743680

Thanks again David. You know, I'm baffled. In Photoshop the colors are represented correctly when I open up the same image that I have posted. The preview of the image as well even looks correct when I go to save. However, after I post and review via the browser, the colors get muted. Not sure why. Am I alone in this or does anyone experience the same results? #743704

David August 29, 2004

Hmmm... Gamma correction on your monitor? If the colors look muted to you, let me tell you what I see on the web. Beside this incredible sky there is a dragon fire mist hovering over the field with this line of fire green grass and the rosd is a mixture of the gravel with the hint of the shadow in a light saphhire blue. This is the bane of all digital photos, our monitors and trying to balance them not to mention Mac vs PC formats. Everything I do on my PC looks completely different when I see it on my wife's Mac. Go figure. Even the folks at BetterPhoto have this in the FAQs for summiting photos. You are definately not alone. I always use my printer as my guideline for setting up my monitor. That's where it really counts, if it looks good on the wall, then I'm happy. #743715

David, I couldn't agree with you more. You are absolutely right about monitors and printers and it is truly there that color calibration is most important!! I thank you for your advice and for numbing the pain that has come from trying to get everything perfect :) Alas, peace and tranquility once again... that is at least until tommorow when I will be re-assimilted with the masses.... I hate Mondays... Much appreciated David! #743745

If the quality of this image online disappoints you I can only imagine how beautiful it must look in its original form. Just lovely composition and light! #869989
