Description

The air was crisp and clean,a soft breeze tossed the scent of fallen leaves across the fields.Twigs snapped as I made my way up the overgrown path.I was sure I’d see a house up there as we drove past the first time.Around the bend ,past a tree gnarled with character and there it was.Weathered and beaten,grayed from years of neglect.
Stepping over fallen branches,my pant legs pricked with thorny plants,a deep scratch on the palm of my hand quickly seeps with blood as a thorn snags my flesh…but I keep pushing ,I can feel the history,I can see the honor and love that this place once held and I want to have a peek inside.
I fight my way thru a thick tangle of underbrush to the door,it hangs open as if the last person that left had been in a hurry.
I cautiously step inside and I am shocked by what I see.
The floor in the front room is gone,just the beams that it once sat upon are visible,
