Hi, Penny:

This compostion is much better than the previous one that you submitted.

I would suggest that you place the lighthouse slightly higher in the frame, however, i.e. closer to top edge. I would also suggest that you have the walkway closer to the bottom-left corner, i.e. move the camera up and to the left. This would force the lighthouse to be further to the right in the frame and not be in the centre of the image. The walkway would serve as a leading line leading the viewer's eyes through the photo.

Most importantly, you really need to use a smaller aperture (larger f-stop value) to ensure crisp focus throughout the photo. The lighthouse itself is a little soft. However, this may be a result of the scan. I am not sure.

I would also use a slightly larger focal length.

I just used the landscape settings on my canon rebel I have just started a photo class from new york inst. of photography so at the time I took this photo I didn't know about aperture was (sorry)but i'am learning and look forward to help from other photographers.Thanks again #1129
