Bathed in Light
Uploaded: August 01, 2004
7/16/04, 4:05 p.m., f/3, 1/12, ISO 400, hand-held, natural window light. Taken inside baker mansion in Altoona, PA. Converted to sepia in PSP8, no other post processing. Hung up on the categories again....Travel and Place is the closeest fit, but doesn't seem like a fair place to put it against travel photos. It is really a still life, but with the general category gone, where does one put a still life. Under the category descriptions, there really isn't room for one. Ideas welcome:-)

Very beautiful composition, Jan. Magnificent work. I agree with you, there should be a still life or maybe a general category again. #153572Carolyn M. Fletcher August 01, 2004
Wow, I don't know where you should put it. Why don't you e-mail BeePee and ask them what they think and then let us all know! #680548Allan L. Whitehead August 01, 2004
Wonderful photograph, Jan, I love the composition and the imagry. The sepia tone works exceptionally well here. I don't know in which category this would best served, I agree with Carolyn, maybe BP could steer us all in the right direction, eh… Very well done, my dear friend - your friend, Allan #680565Gianna Stadelmyer August 01, 2004
Thanks so much for your wonderufl comments and feedback, Paul, Carolyn, and Allan! I really appreciate it, as always! I did e-mail BP too and am waiting for a response. I'll keep you posted:-) #680600Stephen Zacker August 01, 2004
Great still life Jan. I really like the window light. I agree on the categories. It is sometimes hard to pick one that truly fits. #680605Donna J. Taff August 01, 2004
Beautiful image, Jan!!!!! I'd put it in still life but since there ain't one who know'!!!!! #680607Dale Ann Cubbage August 01, 2004
This is beautiful Jan and the sepia is perfect here! Very vintage feeling, which I just love! As for category, with what's available I would put this in details/macro. It's not a macro, but you're showing the details in this setting. Just my thoughts on it. #680614Kelly Abernathy August 01, 2004
I love this Jan - so pretty! But I'm no help either, sorry. Signed, clueless about categories. :) -K #680726Dan Holm August 01, 2004
Love the sepia treatment on this shot, Jan! Very well done! ... (I guess since it's a "place" you could try it in that category....??) #680789Elisabeth A. Gay August 01, 2004
Lovely sepia shot Jan, really gives this atmosphere! #680825Colleen Braun August 01, 2004
very nice... #680939Diane Addonizio August 01, 2004
Very pretty. I would put it in digital darkroom since to converted to sepia. #681352Gianna Stadelmyer August 01, 2004
Thanks for your kind comments, Stephen, Donna, Dale Ann, K, Dan, Elisabeth, Colleen, and Diane! I greatly appreciate them:-) I thought about digital darkroom, but didn't think the sepia conversion was enough to put it there. Thought of details and macro too since it is a detail of a room, but the guidelines showed more macros thatn anything else, so for now it is in places and travel.... #681522Claudia Kuhn August 02, 2004
When I first saw this I thought, what a beautiful still life! Yes, sometimes I, also, have category trouble, with a still life type of shot. Looks good in sepia! #682132Gianna Stadelmyer August 03, 2004
OK, the word from Heather was to categorize this in Details and Macro since it is a detail of a larger room. BUT, she did like the idea of a still life category, so we'll wait and see. In the meantime, I will resubmit this one within the next few days. Thanks for the input everyone and thank you Claudia for you very nice comment:-) #684740Janet Detota August 03, 2004
