"Self Portrait Through Leaves"

Uploaded: September 08, 2001

Description

I shot this self portrait with a tripod and timer on my camera. Then I put the photo on the scanner and laid leaves on top before I scanned it. After, I put it in photoshop and tinted the eyes with color.

Out of all the great photos on the site, some make you stop and some don't. This one is has a very unique quality about it. First off, the contrast between the leaves and the face behind them give an almost 3D effect. This gives me many ideas I never had before, I can't wait to experiment with many of them. #728

Thank you for your kind words, Craig. I like to experiment, too. Lorraine #1032

I kept coming back to this picture. Something caught my eye, even as a small picture and without your explanation. I read the explanation and then looked at the larger version of the photograph/collage and could see it better. Really nice. Lots of depth. Very subtle and light-handed. Thanks for posting it. I enjoyed seeing it. #1064

Thank you, Sue, I reallly appreciate your comments. People either seem to love it or hate it. I am going to continue to experiment with things like that, just for the creative fun of it. I do appreciate hearing your comments. Lorraine #1066

What a compliment to an artist - when people love it or hate it, you know you've created a strong piece! #1074
