Tornado (V)alley???

Uploaded: July 27, 2007

Description

Wow! This was taken out my backyard in Northeastern Pennsylvania. It was taken with whacky settings because I was actually set up for shooting lightning (I had a Neutral-Density filter on plus a really tiny aperture so I could get longer exposure times in the daylight).

As mentioned, I was setting up for some neat lightning shots (and there would have been some GREAT ones!) when I looked to my left, and... OMG!!! My motto is "Shoot with what you got first - a poor shot is better than none at all." Thankfully I did that because it was the best picture of the lot.

Taken with my Canon 10 - 22 mm Wide Angle Zoom: 1/8s f/22.0 at 22.0mm iso100.

Neat! Where in NE PA are you? I'm in Danielsville down toward Allentown. A couple years ago a twister went through and ripped up trees and roofs all the way to Reading. Took out a few trees in our tiny little town too. Anyway, great shot -- you're right, a poor shot is better than none at all! #4570050

William:
I appreciate that you took the time to comment on the photo. After taking a few with the oddball setup, I took off the filters and reset the camera to more normal settings. I got some nice shots also, but nothing like the first one.
