Fishing Allure

Description

Nighttime study of one the most appealing and provocative attactions of Melbourne's hosting of the 2006 Commonwealth Games, held March last year. More than 30 floating platforms each held two larger than life metallic and glass composite sculptures representing a native fish species from each of the Nations competing in the Games. Each of the platforms was approximately 10 metres long, the sculpture running the length of the barge, viewable from that bank of the Yarra River. On each barge was an integrated multi coloured light and water show, was visually stunning. The colours and effects changing constantly. The actual 'train' of platforms, extended some 800 metres up the Yarra River to end at the doorstep of one of the most famous sporting stadiums in the world, The Melbourne Cricket Ground, which hosted many of the games and the opening and closing ceremonies. The MCG was also the home of the 1956 Olympic Games.
