Description

This Puffin returns to Staple Island, one of the Islands that make up the Farne Islands, with a bill full of sand eels to feed it's chick which is waiting patiently underground where it is safe from preditors. They have to run the gauntlet of many hungry Gulls laying in wait, ready to ambush them in an attempt to steal their hard earned catch. The Puffins respond by doing a controled crash landing right into their burrows which is highly entertaining to watch.

1/600th sec @ f/6.3, ISO 200. Canon 20D, 100-400L IS.

Unbelievable...
I am thinking how it can a photographer to get picture like this.
Besides competence and good equipment...
I imagine that also needs to fly... Like bird!
