Description

Shot using a Graflex 6X9 roll film back on a 4X5 Toyo view camera, a Schneider-Kreuznach 65mm f/8 Super Angulon lens, and Fuji NPS 160 film. Exposure was 1/125th sec between f/16 and f/22. Because of the intended use of this image, some manipulation was necessary of the street in the foreground as the asphalt was pretty hacked up. I left a trace of the asphalt patches visible for realism.

Bob, this brings back some memories from many years ago. I took my miltary photo training at Ft. Monmouth (I assume this is in NJ) in the summer of 1967 prior to my service in VietNam. Nice to see a photo from a "large format" camera hereabouts. Thanks for the memories, Dan Cook. #136816

Thanks Dan and Carolyn, this was one of the few times when I had almost perfect weather when a "last minute" requirement for a building exterior shot came up. :-)

Dan, you're right, this is the same Fort Monmoth in New Jersey where you were stationed for training. The Signal School is long gone (it's at Fort Gordon, Georgia), and while the military population is relatively small now, Fort Monmouth is home to a lot of communications/electronics R&D.

FWIW - Allison Hall was named for Colonel James B. Allison, who in 1925, became the sixth Commanding Officer of Fort Monmouth. #588499
