Esopus Meadows Lighthouse in Port Ewen, NY on the Hudson River... taken on a cruise aboard the M/V Rip Van Winkle from Kingston, NY on Friday, July 13, 2007. This light sits along the west side of the Hudson River marking the mud flats at Port Ewen. The octagonal tower sits atop a one and a half story keeper's dwelling. It has the distinction of being the only wooden lighthouse on the Hudson River. It has a wood frame and clapboard exterior. The light is no longer in use and the automated navigational aid is mounted on a pole outside the building.

Extraordinary photo of history overtoned with a note of sadness about the apparent depreciation, that which foreshadows all that dwells upon the earth. It is a quaint little light house. Hopefully someone will gain a grant to repair the aging structure.
