Good capture! It seems that critters always land on something the same color as themselves! Then even if you are able to sneak up on them and take the picture, you can't see them! This is an exception to that rule. #13274

Christina J. Maze September 03, 2002

You always take such great macro shots...what kind of lens do you use? I really enjoy your pictures! #13316

Robert Jensen September 03, 2002

Thankyou everyone for your comments.

Christina,

Most of my insect photos, including this one, are taken with a Nikkor 200mm micro lens. Occasionally I will use the Nikkor 105mm.

Thank you all very much for your comments. I was pleased to have won but was totally surprised. Judging photos is always very subjective. If there were 10 groups of judges, you would probably end up with them selecting 10 different grand prize winners - this month, it just happened to be one of my images - next month it will be one of yours. I really love his site as I've gotten so many ideas from the creative images that everyone else has submitted. I've already seen images this month from some of you that I would choose as this month's winners.

If any of you live in the Los Angeles area, let me know if you would be interested in getting together some Saturday to take pictures at the L.A. Zoo. Thanks again for your kind words, and I look forward to seeing which one of your images wins this month.

I completely agree with your gracious comments. However, your consistently excelllent work was going to rise to the top of this talented group sooner or later. Congrats on the Grand Prize win! Unfortunately, I live at the other end of California, in Redding. Maybe you could come up here sometime? After we get some more snow on Mt. Shasta? #18193

Lorane K. Fought May 26, 2019
