WONDERFUL Image!

Thanks for the inspiration. I had plans to visit St. Michael's in May but could not get all the hotel reservation together to also include a visit to Normandy. We live in Bern Switzerland. It’s still on my list of places to visit. I had envisioned getting a photo exactly likes yours. Although, I have never visited before, I knew this shot was there. Do you mind telling me how or where you got the shot? I promise not to shoot the same rock. LOL I have a 10-22mm lens that would work great there.

Hi Les,

This is actually St. Michael's Mount located in Marazion, Cornwall, UK. This is NOT the same as Mt. St. Michel in Normandy although it was inspired by it. I have visited both and can say that the latter is a far more grandiose construction. My shot was taken from the shoreline of Marazion.

Mt. St. Michel in France offers numerous photo opportunities but try to get there for first light (hopefully at low tide) to get the best shot with the fewest people, cars, buses, etc. If you go to Normandy in the July timeframe you can expect nice round hay bales in the fields surrounding the Mount that would look great in the right light.

Helpful?

Cheers!

Nice shot Bob ! I know the place well. At least you had good weather. I was there at the end of April for last two days of fine weather before the great deluge of 2007 started !
