Description

The first (self titled) image in my frozen flowers project. I submerge mature blooms and freeze solid. This project allows me to study the intricacies, definition and beauty of flowers in a different way to just shooting cut flowers. The ice cocoon often shows a glossiness and captured bubbles which sometimes suggest movement and an extra dimension. Shot shutter priority - 1 second exposure with Nikkor 18 - 70mm @ 70 mm/f18 Exposure Comp.: -0.7 EV

Onboard flash synched with external flash, micro torch and sun lit. The project is ongoing.

Amazing capture, Graham!

Please share how this was done, including placing the flower in the water so that it would stay put in that wonderful angle. How large was the block of ice that you created? How did you achieve both water droplets and ice crystals at the same time?

Amazing project. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Bunny
