Sumatran Tiger at the Los Angeles Zoo

Original background edited out in Photoshop, see discussion for how
ISO 400, f/5.6, 1/160sec; Canon 70-300 DO IS @ 300mm

Here's the original background.

I selected the background around the tiger using a combination of the magnetic lasso tool and close zoom with the regular lasso in Photoshop. I then feathered the selection 5 pixels and filled in the background using paint twice to maintain the softness of the tiger's fur while still removing the background.

Color was adjusted using color balance and levels adjustments to make the whites white.
