An important message here that is not adquately appreciated, Norm. Here in Canada we have 9% of the world's fresh water supply and less than 1% of the population. Yet, even we run into problems on occasion. An oil shortage will be child's play compared to a water crisis. In many places in the world people carry for miles their daily supply, equivalent to what we use in a couple flushes of our toilets. #668327

Hey Steve, thanks for the thoughtful comments.

I had just finished watering my plants and half of the sidewalk, when I sat down and read the article. Realizing what I had just finished doing, drove the point home.

As I understand it, the factors responsible are climate change, pollution, mismanagement and of course politics.

As I worked on the image, the figure seemed to be holding out a hand as if testing for rain. However, it took me two trys to get the title right. (smile)

A well thought out creation Norm. It really makes a point. What we take for granted, other people struggle to find. #4375913
