3 meters jump

Uploaded: May 01, 2007

Description

This was hard to shoot. READ THIS, YOU WILL LAUGH.

This Austrian guy jumps over 3 meters in the air. Realy nice to picture, but conditions were not so good. Field measuring 40 x 15 meters with so many people around, around 100 people (kids) inside the fence, walking around and sitting litteraly on some jump ramps. I could choose only 2 ramps on which jumper was going towards me, but they were not on the sun (they were in the shadow), and background was almost +3EV lighter then skater. Also, on those 2 ramps I could choose one of lenses (70-200mm or 300mm). Also, skater did not have some path, he did choose ramps on his own, so I was waiting most of the time to have opportunity to shoot. And after all, I had so bad luck that most of the time skaters did that ramps in wrong directions, turning they back to me. Light was better at the evening, during finals, but only 5 skaters did compete in finals, so I did not have more then 3 shoots to take. Grrr, I was mad, nice event, but bad
