~Fire~
Uploaded: April 25, 2007
This is my husband standing well down the hill from our back fence line last night. This was a controlled fire done by the Parks and Forest dudes because of the drought and because of so much dry debris on the forest floor. These guys are awesome!!They spent the whole day before catching koalas and bandicoots from the park to take them to safety before the fire. The most amazing thing was watching the fire and seeing these amazing, huge owls in front of the fire waiting for the rodents to come running from it. Apparently it's the only time they eat them on the ground!

WOW, Lynne - FABULOUS capture...AND narrative, too!! Whereabouts do you live? It must still be dry there... Where we are here near Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle, thankfully we've had a LOVELY lot of rain over the last few days!! We hope you get some soon, too!! :o) #643953Dominick M. So cool. I live in CA and we are also short on rain. This summer they are expecting a huge fire season. #4250032Pat Gamwell June 01, 2007
AWESOME shot, Lynne! Waaaaay too close, even though it was a controlled burn! They have a way of getting out of hand! So glad it turned out ok! Great shot! #4353616Lynne Hoad June 01, 2007
Thanks Linda, Kristen and Pat! Ironically it has been raining hard since the fire! So much so that our driveway is now on the road out the front and our phone has been out for nearly two weeks! #4353780Peggy J. Maguire June 01, 2007
