Electrifying - In more ways than one

Uploaded: April 16, 2007

Description

Here is another photo from the huge thunderstorm a few weeks ago. I thought this crop was a good fit with the power lines and lightning together. ISO 100, f10.0, 15 sec. Canon 20D, 20-40mm f2.8 @ 20mm. This was quite the bright, loud spread of Cloud to Cloud lightning that spanned directly overhead.

Great shot. How did you time it so that you got the lightning at the right time? Do you just open the shutter and hope that the lightning strikes while it is open? #639301

Thanks for the comments. This shot was captured with my homemade lightning triggering device. It detects the lightning flash and fires the camera shutter. I use this unit as well as the standard 10-20 sec exposure when shooting lightning. #4179247
