Nice try Kim and you did well to get the bird in focus but it doesn't work for me. For a start I can't even tell if it is a pelican as it is flying away from the camera and secondly the background is very busy which detracts from the main subject. #629140

This is a good shot Kim. No matter what anybody says, keep at it. You can do and it will get better each time. Great job. Bill

Good try Kim. Pictures of birds in flight are very tough. I don't know whether you tried this but you may want to consider shooting birds in burst mode and just keep you finger on the shutter release until your buffer is filled. It gives you many more chances to get the "lucky" shot. Where do you live in Louisiane? I live in Folsom.
