Nice photo Mary. Composition is perfect. The sun shining off of the waves is a little over exposed (I think)and dazzles. Try taking a reading off of the brightest part of the shot,pressing exposure lock, re compose your view and press the shutter. If the resulting photo generally looks underexposed you can always brighten up in Photoshop etc. The other way round, you can never recover the over exposed parts.Roger #614503

Beautiful, this is the best shot in your gallery. In high contrast situations like this you can set your camera to low or less contrast. The image can always be expanded in PS. Roger's suggestion can be used in combination with this idea. Both these techniques together should keep the highlights from burning out while retaining detail in the shadows.
